Emmerdale legend Jeff Hordley has backed a Leeds band’s quest to bag a No.1 with their debut album.
Yard Act, fronted by James Smith, are in the running to scoop top spot in the album chart with their first record The Overload. If you don’t know Yard Act then you soon will with the band earning praise from across the music industry and featuring on the BBC Sound of 2022 list.
They are currently battling with Olly Alexander of Years and Years for this week’s No.1 with lots of fans getting behind Yard Act.

One of those was Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley who plays soap bad boy Cain Dingle. Jeff posted on Twitter for the first time in nearly a year to say ‘get behind these local boys’.
The band were delighted with the support and tweeted a cheeky reply to their followers.

The other members of Yard Act are bassist Ryan Needham,, Sam Shjipstone guitarist and drummer Jay Russell.
Both The Guardian and NME gave their record The Overload a four stars out of five reviews. The band will find out later in the week whether they’ve bagged a No.1.
The band has shown some fighting spirit after the Official Charts tipped Years and Years to take the crown.
The band put a tongue-in-cheek post on Twitter: “Oh right so the @officialcharts wanna call it for national treasure and pop behemoth Olly Alexander A.K.A Years and Years just like that? No chance.
