Emmerdale appeared to air an exit for a character on Friday night in a new Nicky Miligan twist, as he was faced with a tough dilemma thanks to his evil dad Caleb Miligan.
Nicky forced his lover Ally to leave the village for good and told him he planned to go through with his upcoming wedding, after a threat by his dad.
Amid Caleb's plan to take down Kim and fleece her fortune and everything she owns, the villain pressured his son to continue their revenge plot against her and those at Home Farm.
Nicky finally confirmed his sexuality to his dad this week, after Caleb spotted him kissing his secret lover Ally during Thursday's episode.
He confessed he was too scared to tell his dad he was gay as he didn't think he would approve, but Caleb quickly showed support to his son and said he "just wanted him to be happy".
This support didn't last for long though as Nicky made it clear he didn't want to go through with his plan to marry Gabby Thomas, leaving Caleb attacking him before issuing a dark threat.
Grabbing his son and threatening him, he shouted: "No, no you can and you will... my son does what I tell him, no questions asked. If you mess this up, family or not I will destroy you. You know that I can."
In Friday's episode, Caleb appeared slightly remorseful for lashing out before finding out where his son stood with their revenge plan.
Viewers know that Caleb is the secret son of Frank Tate, the late husband of Kim. Caleb wants to avenge his dad's death in 1997 believing Kim killed him, somehow hearing that she was involved.
Caleb wants revenge on Kim and to fleece her for everything she owns, believing it was his dad's fortune and belongs to him.
He's tasked Nicky with marrying Gabby Thomas, the mother of Kim's grandson Thomas Tate, in the hope of getting every bit of her fortune.
Nicky tried to get out of this plan only to be threatened, and on Friday Caleb was quickly guilt tripping his son into staying with him.
The nanny was clearly torn and in turmoil over lying to Gabby and not getting to be with Ally, but when his dad suggested they were nearly at the end of their mission he decided to help him.
Ally was stunned when Nicky met up with him and dumped him, before telling him to leave.
It seems Ally doesn't know who Caleb is, suggesting Nicky wasn't in contact with his father when they first met.
Caleb also didn't recognise Ally so their paths clearly have not crossed. Ally knows some of Nicky's turmoil and that he doesn't want to marry Gabby, but he believes his father is forcing him into it because he is gay.
Nicky let him believe he had no option but to marry Gabby and it was linked to his family, not giving away the revenge plan he's working on with Caleb.
So when Nicky insisted that the wedding would go ahead, Ally tried to persuade him to be with him only for a torn Nicky to tell him they could not be together, as he sent him packing.
A furious Ally soon fled with it now known if he will be back soon, or if this is the end for the character.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
