Emma Raducanu has turned to the fitness guru that helped kick off Andy Murray 's career, after splitting with Russian coach Dmitry Tursunov.
Raducanu has endured a turbulent 13 months since rising to fame when winning last year's US Open title. In recent months though there had been positives for the British teenager, having reaching the semi-final of the Korea Open whilst working alongside latest recruit Tursunov.
However after just over two months of working together, the pair have decided to part ways. The Russian becomes the fourth coach to leave his post alongside Raducanu in the last 15 months, alongside Nigel Sears, Andrew Richardson and Torben Beltz.
As one member departs, another joins the 19-year-old's team as fitness trainer Jez Green links up with Raducanu. Green has quite the reputation within the tennis world, having helped transform British star Murray into one of the world's best players.
After departing from Murray in 2014, the coach has continued to work with some of the globe's top players including Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem. Raducanu could well benefit from working with Green after her recent injury woes.
The teenager has encountered a number of fitness issues in her first full career on the WTA Tour, with her latest problem coming with a wrist injury which forced her to withdraw from this week's Transylvania Open. In terms of her playing coach, it remains unknown as to who Raducanu will turn to next.
As a result fellow Grand Slam winner, and former BBC Tennis presenter Sue Barker believes the 19-year-old should team up with someone she has faith in. “I feel she needs one person that she really trusts and believes in,” Barker told The Telegraph.
“Every coach comes in with a different mindset, a different way of wanting to play and a different way of teaching. And to me that would be totally confusing. It would be disruptive before it became effective. But I also feel that the pressure that she's been put under has just been immense.”
