Once known solely as the wife of infamous drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, Emma Coronel is now stepping into a new spotlight. After serving time in prison, Coronel is making headlines again, but this time due to her dramatic transformation.
Coronel is starring in the music video of a song about her own life. Performed by Mariel Colón Miró, one of the controversial lawyers who defended El Chapo in his confrontation with the U.S. justice system, Coronel herself, and Jeffrey Epstein. Now, she has become a singer, her stage name being La Abogada (The Lawyer).
With striking blonde hair and captivating presence, Emma Coronel is seeking to shift from her notorious past. Embracing a fresh start, she's ventured into the modeling world.
Coronel's story took a sharp turn following her release from prison. She reemerged in the public eye not as the wife of a cartel leader, but as a woman ready to carve out a new identity. In a recent interview she spoke about her new beginning, expressing a desire to focus on positive opportunities and personal growth. "This is a chance for me to show the world who I truly am," she said.

Titled "La Señora" and performed by Colón, the track was written by Mario Delgado, known as "El Cachorro," who has previously composed corridos in honor of the Mexican drug trafficker.
"It resonates with me entirely; it speaks of me and everything I've experienced in life," she said about the song. Furthermore, through her contribution to the video, Coronel says she has fulfilled her "dream of being a model," which she said has pursued since childhood.
Released from prison last September, Emma Coronel was 17 when she met El Chapo after winning a beauty contest in Durango, México. They have two twin daughters.
