Emma Coronel Risks Returning to Prison with Powerful Message of Love for Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán

In Spanish

Emma Coronel, now working as a model, is now at risk of returning to the prison where she spent two years for drug trafficking-related crimes after speaking about Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán Loera and sending him a message of love during an Instagram livestream.

Coronel, who recently made her debut at Milan Fashion Week, was engaging with her followers when a question about her feelings for the founder of the Sinaloa Cartel and father of her two daughters appeared in the chat.

Instead of ignoring the question, which could have easily been lost in the flood of comments, Coronel decided to respond with words that, if recorded by U.S. prison authorities, could land her back behind bars.

As part of her probation, which allowed her early release from prison a year before the official end of her sentence, the former beauty queen must maintain zero contact with anyone connected to El Chapo and is strictly forbidden from exchanging any messages about or for him.

What Did Emma Coronel Say to El Chapo?

The specific question asked was, "Do you miss JGL?" using the initials of Guzmán Loera. Her response was brief but meaningful: "Forever and always," accompanied by a heart emoji, symbolizing her unwavering love. While her loyalty to her 35-year-old husband is no surprise, it is noteworthy that she risked it all so boldly with such a public display of affection.

It seems Coronel quickly realized the gravity of her actions, as she then posted a photo captioned, "The happiest day of my life," which referred to the moment when she was freed from wearing the ankle monitor typically required for convicts on probation. Currently, Emma Coronel has the freedom to move around the United States at her discretion, as per the terms of her probation agreement.

With the support of her lawyer, Mariel Colón, who also represents El Chapo, Coronel has even been able to travel abroad thanks to a special permit. This allowed her to fly to Italy and participate in a bridal fashion show for the Los Angeles and Dubai-based brand, April Black Diamond.

Her appearance at the Milan shows harkened back to her teenage years when she shone as a beauty queen and first caught the attention of El Chapo.

Emma Coronel's recent public activity and renewed visibility have brought her back into the spotlight, but the question remains: will her public declaration of love for her notorious husband put her freedom at risk again?
