Strawweight gold will be on the line at the next Invicta FC event as champion Emily Ducote will meet challenger Alesha Zappitella in the main event.
The promotion announced on Tuesday that Invicta FC 47 is scheduled for May 11, with Ducote (10-6) vs. Zappitella (9-3) serving as the headlining act. A location and venue have not been revealed.
Ducote, 28, will attempt to make her first title defense after claiming gold in spectacular fashion at Invicta FC 44 in August. The Bellator veteran is 4-1 over her past five, with her title-winning head kick of Danielle Taylor ranking among the best knockouts of the year in 2021.
Zappitella, 27, meanwhile, tries to make history by moving up in weight to challenge Ducote. The former Invicta FC atomweight champion lost the belt to Jessica Delboni in January after one title defense, and has now opted to shift divisions and chase a second championship with the promotion.
The latest Invicta FC 47 lineup includes:
- Emily Ducote vs. Alesha Zappitella – for strawweight title
- Chelsea Chandler vs. Courtney King
- Jillian DeCoursey vs. Lindsey VanZandt
- Serena DeJesus vs. Lisa Verzosa
- Janaisa Morandin vs. Liana Pirosin
- Jennifer Chieng vs. Alyssa Linduska
