Passengers were forced to rush off their train and flee from Wilmslow station after a train caught on fire this evening.
Footage from witnesses shows plumes of smoke emerging from a train at Wilmslow station, with police and fire services on the scene. It is believed that the fire started at around 9pm this evening (Wednesday February 22).
Matt Thornton told the Manchester Evening News he was a passenger on the train. He said conductors 'ran' through the carriage telling people to get off 'immediately' as the train pulled into Wilmslow.
