Embarrassing Bodies returns and announces Dr Christian's exit amid off-screen controversy

Embarrassing Bodies will be making a comeback to E4 - but one of the show's famous faces is missing.

Dr Christian Jessen won't be among this year's line-up of medical professionals as the programme makes its return.

Instead, the brand new doctors appearing in the show include Dr Jane Leonard, Dr Anand Patel and Dr Tosin Ajayi -Sotubo.

As per the premise of the show, the doctors will be on hand to help examine, explain, and hopefully provide treatment solutions for the patients’ ‘medical mysteries’, all whilst helping to destigmatise many common conditions that often go ignored or untreated.

Dr Christian is notably missing, despite appearing on the show since 2007 and shooting to fame through his no-nonsense approach to giving medical advice to patients.

Following the success of the show, a number of book deals and spin-offs followed for Dr Christian from Embarrassing Teenage Bodies to Embarrassing Fat Bodies and weight loss series Supersize V Superskinny.

He soon became regarded as one of the most familiar and trusted TV docs on television as he turned his medical background into a media empire.

However, it all came crumbling down for the TV doctor following a bitter legal battle that pushed him to the verge of bankruptcy.

Last year, he was ordered to pay Arlene Foster £125,000 in libel after tweeting false allegations that the former First Minister was having an extra-marital affair.

Belfast's High Court was told Ms Foster had been cut "to the core" by the attack.

Christian said he 'deeply regretted' his words and asked followers to donate to his GoFundMe page to help cover costs of his legal fees.

But it wasn't the first time he was involved in a scandal in recent years, which included him being blasted for his outspoken views on coronavirus.

The TV doc came under fire for suggesting that Italians were using the disease as an excuse to have a 'long siesta.'

Italian footballer Ciro Immobile branded Christian a "d***head" and told him to "f*** off" after hearing his comments.
