Tesla CEO Elon Musk is faced major backlash following his comment directed at American singer Taylor Swift after she publicly endorsed US Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election.
The endorsement came after a heated debate between Harris and former president Donald Trump. Swift, known for her political activism, took to her social media platform to express her support for Harris.
The Pop superstar on Wednesday, endorsed Kamala Harris in an Instagram post saying, "I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them."
She signed the message "Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady."
Musk, in response, made a remark on his X handle stating, “Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.”
Musk’s comment quickly ignited outrage, with many users accusing the billionaire of 'crossing the line'. One user labelled the remark as “sexual harassment,” while others criticised him for lacking respect for women.
Another user slammed him for his 'provocative' remark that can also be viewed as a 'threat' to the singer. Musk’s response has since been widely condemned, with many calling it “one of the worst things he has ever tweeted.”
However, there were others, who seemed to defend must and say that his remark was in response to her signing off her note as "childless" cat lady. Musk has 12 children with three women. The Tesla mogul welcomed six children with his first wife, Justine Wilson, three with his ex-girlfriend Grimes three with his Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis.
Musk welcomed his youngest child - Techno Mechanicus, also known as "Tau", who was born in 2023 to Grimes.
