Tucker Carlson has launched his own show on Twitter where he doesn’t have a contract with the social media giant in the announcement by Twitter CEO Elon Musk.
Musk made an announcement on Twitter that there is no formal deal for Carlson’s new show. Twitter is only for interaction for the public whether to agree or disagree.
“On this platform, unlike the one-way street of broadcast, people are able to interact, critique and refute whatever is said,” Musk said on Twitter regarding Carlson. “I also want to be clear that we have not signed a deal of any kind whatsoever.”
Carlson was fired from Fox News shortly after the conservative media network settled with Dominion Voting Systems for $787 million in the defamation lawsuit along with his producer, Justin Wells.
The former Fox News host decided to launch his own platform on Twitter continuing the work that he has done from his old network.
Fox Corp, the parent company of Fox News, owes Carlson $25 million from his contract.
His lawyers had sent Fox Corp a legal letter that the non-compete clause was no longer valid allowing him to do his own show.
“Starting soon we’ll be bringing a new version of the show we’ve been doing for the last six and a half years to Twitter,” he said in the video. “We bring some other things too, which we’ll tell you about. But for now, we’re just grateful to be here. Free speech is the main right that you have. Without it, you have no others.”
The work environment at Fox had surfaced in the media as Carlson was accused of a hostile atmosphere that included racist and homophobic rants that was published in the New York Times.
Carlson’s text message surfaced regarding the January 6 incident prior to Fox News’ legal counsel were about to redact it. Fox Corp’s board of director were made aware of the text message.
“A couple of weeks ago, I was watching video of people fighting on the street in Washington. A group of Trump guys surrounded an Antifa kid and started pounding the living s*&^ out of him. It was three against one, at least. Jumping a guy like that is dishonorable, obviously. It’s not how white men fight,” Carlson said in a text message.
Carlson was the highest rated host for Fox News. The network has not made announcement of who will take over Carlson’s old slot.
With Musk buying the social media giant, he was praised by those allowing other public figures onto the platform that were banned that included Donald Trump, Andrew Tate, Roger Stone, Alex Jones, and Kangana Ranaut. All of these public figures were reinstated back into Twitter
Twitter is no longer a public company as the parent company is X Corp and maintains its headquarters in San Francisco.
Musk and Carlson had spoken about working together, no details were disclosed about how capacities would be formed.
Carlson received offers from Newsmax and Rumble that would have exceeded his pay at Fox News.
