Former US Army sniper Nick Betts has ignited widespread online debate after recounting extraordinary second-hand claims that American elite troops engaged in a lethal subterranean firefight with 'mildly reptilian-looking' beings near Area 51 in Nevada.

Betts, who co-hosts the Liberty Risk podcast and first shared the story in 2025, claimed an unnamed special operations serviceman disclosed the bizarre incident during a documentary project in Poland.
