Owners of electric cars face paying road tax as part of plans by Jeremy Hunt to fill the £54 billion hole in the country’s finances as part of the "eye watering" Budget, it has been claimed.
The Chancellor is set to announce on Thursday changes to Treasury rules which will affect millions of people who snapped up cars and vans which give out no emissions.
Until now they have paid no vehicle excise duty but Mr Hunt is to change that to fill the shortfall in road tax worth billions of pounds, says Mail Online.
