I get it. Every day, there's a new story about some kid getting injured or even killed while riding an electric bike. When I'm walking in New York City, I've more than one nearly been run down by someone flying along on their e-bike, oblivious to the pedestrian right-of way.
So I agree that e-bike laws are needed, but the one that's about to go into effect in New Jersey — my home state — goes way too far, which will put a damper both on the economy and the environment.
