Elderly make up 60% of Pune’s Covid deaths in January

PUNE: Senior citizens with one or more pre-existing ailments accounted for 60% of Pune’s total 158 Covid deaths from January 1-27, the latest report of the district administration has revealed.

Though the number of casualties, in absolute numbers, dropped drastically during the third wave, the report showed that the mortality rate (in percentage) remained higher among the elderly.
