Elderly alleged robber denied bail over 'flight risk'

A former rugby league international turned "career armed robber" accused of a historical violent hold-up poses too much of a flight risk to be granted bail.

Garry Sullivan, 78, faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday after being charged in May over an alleged confrontation with two Armaguard employees at Chadstone shopping centre 32 years earlier.
