A team of paranormal investigators have shared a photograph of what they believe to be a ghost at a popular Outlander filming location.
Earlier this month, Paranormal Scotland visited Culross Abbey in the village and former burgh of Culross in Fife. Outlander fans may recognise the village from several episodes of the historical drama—most notably in season one when it stood in for the fictional village of Cranesmuir.
While at the abbey, head investigator Michelle Walker—as well as photographer Gary Walker and training investigator Anthony Simcock—captured a number of photos, including some taken in its graveyard. After sharing the footage online, the group received a message from a supporter informing them that they has seen a 'spirit' in one of the photographs.
Walker was left "gobsmacked" upon discovering what they had seen—one of the photographs shows what appears to be a ghostly figure kneeling by a grave. Upon further investigation, the team discovered that the headstone was dedicated to two people by the names of Hugh Cummings and Janet Archibald. They believe it to be the ghost of a 'mother' kneeling by a grave and 'reaching out to a loved one'.
Walker said: "On March 1, myself and photographer Gary stopped off and went for a walk through Culross Abbey on the way back from an investigation in Glasgow. We took lots of photos around the abbey and the grave area and we took a few videos too.
"On March 2, I uploaded a reel to Facebook containing a quick selection of photos and videos that we had taken from the Abbey. On March 14, I woke up to a mail from one of our followers who had seen our reel, and had noticed something, and she was adamant it was a spirit caught on camera.

"She sent me a screen shot of the reel and I can honestly say I was gobsmacked. I couldn't believe I hadn't seen this earlier, and I was shocked that my reel had over 500 views and still no one had noticed this.
"I never seen it at the time but now I cant unsee it, it's clear as day. What I believe to be a mother kneeling at a graveside, reaching out to their loved one."
She added: "Other people say it looks like a male, but I definitely see a female. It's also strange how she has no face, bum or feet, but she has a body, hair and legs, it's just crazy to look at....and when you have a proper zoom in, u can see so many details in her.
"We returned on March 14 once this was pointed out to us, as we were very curious as to what was written on the grave, the grave only stated '1853, Hugh Cummings & Janet Archibald'.
"Although this time felt strange, almost like we were getting watched, we also heard people walking on the gravel chips on the pathway right next to us, however there was no one there. We decided to leave and return at a later date with some equipment.
"We are all shocked, but amazed at this photo, we have caught some incredible evidence over the years, but this is by far up there with some of our best. We aim to return to the Abbey, being fully equipped, hopefully by the end of March, early April."
The group, who first began their investigations way back in 2014, investigate haunted sites including abandoned buildings, old hospitals and castles across Scotland.
