Arsenal's technical director Edu has made a huge decision in an attempt to finalise a transfer for Mykhaylo Mudryk. The Gunners have made a huge breakthrough this week in their negotiations for the 22-year-old with a deal being secured with Shakhtar Donetsk now closer than ever, as football.london understands.
Two bids have been submitted for Mudryk by Arsenal, with the first being a £55million package deal, however both were swiftly rejected by the Ukrainian club, as football.london understands. The latest offer is a significant step up on the recent proposals though, with it being suggested the fee could be in the region of £75-80million.
If that fee is accepted by Shakhtar, Mudryk would overtake Nicolas Pepe as Arsenal's record signing and it looks likely that a deal could be at an advanced stage following a new report revealing what Edu has done to push for the move to be completed.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Edu has travelled to Warsaw where Shakhtar Donetsk are currently stationed in the hopes of completing the final details on the same day Mikel Arteta refused to comment on Mudryk in his press conference.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur, Arteta said: "You know we cannot talk about any other players. There are some interests in what we’d like to do to improve the team because we’re short in certain areas and with injuries that picked. We are trying and as a club We are trying to improve in every window."
Transfer hints from Mudryk have been dropped regularly, with his latest on Instagram a clear sign of his desire to sign for Arsenal, and now Arteta appears to have joined his main January target in dropping one regarding a question about the wingers social media activity.
When asked specifically about Mudryk's Instagram actions, the Spaniard, with a wry smile added: "I will tell you how good I am with the phone."
The Gunners face Tottenham in the North London Derby on Sunday and a perfect weekend could be on the horizon if Arsenal beat their fierce rivals and confirm the signing of Mudryk.
