Edinson Cavani has sent former team-mate Kylian Mbappe his congratulations after the Frenchman overtook him as Paris Saint-Germain's all-time top scorer.
Uruguay striker Cavani scored 200 goals in 301 appearances for PSG, helping them win six Ligue 1 titles along the way. He left the Parc des Princes for Manchester United in 2020, and is now playing his club football for Valencia after two seasons in the Premier League.
Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco in 2017, initially on loan, and spent three seasons in the same forward line as Cavani. He has taken just 247 games to pass his ex-colleague's tally, scoring goal number 201 in a 4-2 victory over Nantes on Saturday.
"Congrats @k.mbappe for your new @psg record, bring PSG fans to the top," Cavani wrote on social media. "A huge goal hug."
Christophe Galtier's Ligue 1 leaders threw away an early two-goal lead to go in level at the break against a Nantes side manager by their former boss Antoine Kombouare. Danilo Pereira put them back in front on the hour mark, though, and Mbappe made the points safe in second half stoppage-time.
The goal saw Mbappe extend his league-leading goal tally to 18 this term, while he has 30 in 30 games in all competitions since confirming he was extending his stay. PSG's win saw them move 11 points clear of closest challengers Marseille ahead of L'OM's Sunday night trip to Rennes.

“In the last five minutes, I wasn’t putting any pressure on myself, I knew I would beat it and I didn’t want to force it," Mbappe told Canal+ after the game (via Get French Football News ). "It’s great that the goal came at the end.
"Playing here is a privilege, I’ve improved as a player, I’ve changed a lot. Playing at PSG is special for me. If you told me I would score with the captain’s armband on to break the record, I wouldn’t have believed it.”
“It’s a personal achievement but I’m here for collective achievements. I’d like to thank my teammates, coaches, the management, and the supporters, who’ve given me everything here. We’re going to Munich to qualify for the next round, we’re determined and we’ve regained confidence.”
PSG's next game comes against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, and Galtier's men have a tough task ahead of them. Kingsley Coman's first-leg winner means PSG need to win away to a team who have yet to taste defeat at the Allianz Arena this term and won all six of their group games.
"We hope and we will try," Mbappe said ahead of the trip to Bavaria. "We are going there to qualify, we are determined, we have regained confidence and now we have to win.”
