Edinburgh youths clamber all over bus shelter and 'threaten to smash shop window'

A Gorgie business owner has condemned the antisocial behaviour of local Edinburgh high school students after they threatened to smash her shop window.

The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, says the pupils often spit, swear and litter in the community. She also claims a group of teens have threatened her whenever she attempts to challenge them on their behaviour.

An image, shared by the entrepreneur and local resident, shows a group of around 20 youths clambering on top of a bus stop on Gorgie Road on the afternoon of Tuesday June 28.

They said: “We are always dreading their lunch breaks. They spit, swear and shout as well as throw rubbish everywhere.

“I have even been told that I am going to get my shop window smashed when I challenge them.”

They shared the picture in a local community group but the business owner says that they were “disgusted by some folk who kept insisting that they could be doing worse things than just climbing a bus stop.”

One young male can be seen dangerously standing on top of the bus shelter which has a fragile roof.

A group of around 17 other pupils are seen to be surrounding the bus stop and looking up at the boy.

The business person says that the large crowd dangerously forces other teens who are intimidated out onto the road in order to get by them.

They added: “I have posted the pictures purely to show that other school kids have to walk on the road because they are too intimidated to walk past them.

“It is just asking for an accident to happen.”
