A 'huge rain storm' has been confirmed by the Met Office, with forecasting predicting downpours will last for a whole 24 hours.
Winter still has the UK its its cold clutches, and while things were brightening up, the dreary skies are set to stay for a little while longer. In Edinburgh, the highest temperature we will see this weekend is 11 degrees, with rain and 25 miles per hour winds dominating Scotland in the coming days.
The forecasters, according to the Mirror, have confirmed the UK will begin to see some of the worst rain this week with some if it having fallen in the previous few days. And today (February 2), a "monster rainstorm" will hit the country, dropping up to four inches of showers in some areas.

Northern areas of the UK are expected to see the worst of the wet conditions, with heavy rain hitting places in North West Scotland, with the far north and west being affected the most.
The city of Edinburgh will see overcast conditions and showers for the rest of the week, as the Met Office forecasts on-and-off downpours for the rest of today.
The expected rainfall has the potential to cause serious flooding, with flood alerts issued in seven areas across Scotland. At the time of writing, however, there is no weather warning in place for Edinburgh.
Met Office meteorologist Dan Stroud said: "A further pulse of rain is expected Thursday (February 2), again this mainly affecting North West Scotland, perhaps giving an additional 100mm by the end of the day on Thursday over hills and mountains."
He added: “Beyond that high pressure is set to becoming more dominate, with high pressure over the UK or eventually to the east.
“However the wettest conditions are always reserved for the far north and west as we move into the first week of February.”
