Edinburgh trains delayed and cancelled after emergency involving passenger

Trains going to and from Edinburgh are set to be delayed or cancelled due to a person taking unwell on a service from the capital to Polmont.

The incident took place at around 5.30pm on a train travelling from Edinburgh and disruption to travel is expected until 7pm.

It is unclear what the condition of the person who took unwell is but staff are currently attending the scene to provide assistance.

Services affected include trains from Edinburgh to Stirling, Glasgow, and Falkirk.

A spokesperson for National Rail said: "A passenger being taken ill on a train between Edinburgh and Polmont is causing disruption to journeys running to and from these stations.

"As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 35 minutes or revised."

They added: "We anticipate disruption will continue until 19:00."

The Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
