Edinburgh to get popular restaurant El Jefe's with legendary Mexican Sunday Roast

A vibrant restaurant and bar known for its legendary Mexican twist on a Sunday roast is bringing its colourful food and drink offering to the capital.

El Jefe's, which has several sites across Glasgow and has earned rave reviews for its Mexican dishes and drinks, announced that it will be opening up on Nicolson Street across, from Festival Theatre, in time for the summer.

The new tequila bar and taqueria will launch in the week of June 19, and be open until midnight (and later during the Festival) and feature a colourful mural created by a top Glasgow graffiti artist.

Known for its tacos, quesadillas, nachos and dirty fries, El Jefe's also regularly goes viral on sites like TikTok and Instagram for its iconic Mexican Sunday Roasts, and has an extensive drinks menu packed with the likes of tequila shots and chasers and frozen margaritas.

And during the Festival they also confirmed they'll be doing takeaway cocktails for people to enjoy.

El Jefe's is set to open on Nicolson Street (El Jefe's)

Speaking about the move to Edinburgh, El Jefe's co-owner Jamie Lessani said: "We are absolutely buzzing, it is something we had planned for a while but it happened sooner than expected, but we are hyped to be bringing El Jefe's to the capital.

"We can't wait for people to see what we have in store. The aim is to be open for the week of the 19th of June, but keep an eye on our socials."
