Firefighters were scrambled to battle a blaze in a tenement flat on Tuesday afternoon.
One resident witnessed firefighters in oxygen masks carrying hoses and saws into a residential building near a care home and recalled the frightening moment she began to smell smoke.
The Fountainbridge resident looked out her window around 1pm and saw a fire appliance on the corner of Bryson Road and Tay street.
“I saw [the firefighters] in oxygen masks, and they were taking hoses and a circular saw into the building opposite the care home,” the resident recalled.

“It was really quite scary and I could smell the smoke from my home.”
The resident said four fire units were parked outside the building at the peak of the response, but they left quietly and suddenly less than an hour after.
Edinburgh emergency services confirmed that the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called to a residential building on Bryson Road at 1.07pm on Tuesday for a small ground floor flat fire.
Authorities said no one was injured during the incident.
