A popular Edinburgh landmark has been named as one of the best new things to do in the UK next year by an influential travel mag.
Time Out named exploring the new look Scottish National Galleries as one of its entries for its '23 of the most exciting new things to do in the UK in 2023' shortlist.
The Times Out team wrote: "From Eastbourne to Edinburgh, Time Out has picked 23 of the most exciting new things to do in the UK in 2023 – how many can you tick off?"
When it comes to Scotland, the site, which serves as a guide to the best activities to enjoy in the world's greatest cities, picked out the Edinburgh-based Galleries, which are currently undergoing a £22 million transformation and is due to reopen to the public next summer.

Speaking about the venue, they wrote: If you’ve visited Edinburgh recently, you’ll be familiar with all the building work taking place on the mound, between Princes Street and the old town. The aim is to transform the main building of the National Galleries of Scotland, which is due to reopen to the public in summer 2023.
"There will be stunning windows looking out over Princes Street Gardens and refurbished exhibition spaces, giving you a prime excuse to pay a visit to discover the work of pioneering Scottish artists like Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Phoebe Anna Traquair (as if you needed another one)."

The Galleries were picked out alongside a whisky distillery in Northumberland, a £186 million arts venue in Manchester, a new attraction called Showtown in Blackpool and a new lido set to open in Brighton.
