Edinburgh's Ian Rankin has teased the new Rebus TV show as filming crews were seen in the city centre.
His character Detective Inspector John Rebus has already been a hit on our television screens between 2000-2004 with four seasons starring Ken Stott proving immensely popular. It was announced last year that a new adaption of the books would be streamed in a six-part series on Viaplay - with Richard Rankin taking the reins of the lead role of Rebus.
The crime author posted a picture on his Twitter account of the filming crew preparing to film on George Street.

Alongside the picture, Ian posted: "In town earlier. Film crew parked up. ‘What’s happening, lads?’ ‘It’s called “Rebus”.’ Right you are…"
The picture shows three massive lorries parked on George Street with the lettering on one of the vehicles spelling 'MOVIE MAKERS'. Also in the image, you can clearly see filming kit alongside lots of opened up hard cases on the ground.

International best selling author beloved of millions who can still go unrecognised in his home city..... by a film crew working on a TV adaptation of his creation. Probably as well, you'd never have been able to leave..."
Ands another added: "This is absolutely terrific and was a long time coming. Congrats Ian!"
