Edinburgh Royal Scotsman train voted one of most luxurious in the world

Edinburgh’s Royal Scotsman train voted one of the most luxurious in the world but it might be beyond the price range of most punters.

The Belmond Royal Scotsman sleeper train made it onto the list by the website Travel and Leisure.

The exclusive train has ten carriages with 22 Edwardian-style cabins for journeys ranging from one to seven nights and the capacity to hold 40 guests each night.

It leaves from Waverley Station and travels various routes throughout the country.

Launched in the 1980s the service has single, twin and double bed cabins and there is even a bar with 50 ranges of whiskey on offer.

Meal times are covered by their famous on-board restaurant, serving passengers throughout the day.

The train even has two spa treatment rooms, offering a fully “immersive body and facial therapy” as the train continue son its journey.

Whilst the observation car offers the best vantages as the train travels through the Highlands.

Travel and Leisure listed the sleep trains they considered to be the “fanciest” in the world and say it is prefect for those looking for longer stays on a train.

They say: “Belmond’s Royal Scotsman Edinburgh train is ideal for those looking to spend a few extra days on the rails.

“The famed trip offers guests the chance to spend four nights on a round-trip journey, where they’ll be pampered by a 24-hour steward.

“All meals, including a Scottish breakfast and four-course dinner, as well as experiences at each stop are also included.

“After a day exploring places like Ballindalloch Castle and the Rothiemurchus Estate, guests can retire to their suite, outfitted with an ultra-cozy bed that’s also covered in Scottish tartans for extra warmth.”

The train offers a range of tours of the Highlands, but they are very expensive.

Currently. journey prices range from £5500 to £12,000 for stays lasting from four to seven days.
