Edinburgh resident robbed by man with kitchen knife while standing at bus stop

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed at knife-point at an Edinburgh bus stop.

The terrifying incident took place around 10.45pm on Wednesday, May 3, at a bus stop in Granton Square, between West Granton Road and West Harbour Road.

A 59-year-old man was approached by a male, believed to in his 20s, carrying a large kitchen knife. The man took off with a rucksack containing personal items and a laptop.

Police are now hunting the suspect described as black, in his early 20s, 5ft 9 in height, of a skinny build and wearing a black hoodie tied tightly around his face. He made off towards Granton Crescent Park.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.45 pm on Wednesday, 3 May 2023, police were called to a report of a robbery at a bus stop in Granton Square, between West Granton Road and West Harbour Road, Edinburgh.

"A 59-year-old man was robbed at knife-point of a rucksack containing personal items and a laptop by a man described as black, in his 20s, 5 ft 9 in height, of skinny build and wearing a black hoodie tied tightly around his face. The suspect made off towards Granton Crescent Park.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. Any information can be passed to police via 101 quoting reference number 4484 of Wednesday, 3 May 2023 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
