A local resident has hit out at the state of litter that has been strewn across the car park at a popular beach spot in the North of the capital.
The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, shared several photos with Edinburgh Live that shows Cramond beach car park inundated with litter. They say that the site is a terrible advert for Edinburgh as tourists travelling from around the world for the Fringe Festival are greeted by overflowing bins and piles of rubbish when they first arrive at the beach.
In one image, an Edinburgh City Council bin can be seen filled to the brim with discarded litter. There are also several items that are spread around the surrounding bin area.

Another picture shows several coffee cups that appear to have been dumped and trampled on by those visiting the area. Used dog poo bags are also spotted lying on the ground and there are also larger items such as boxes and plastic trays that seem to have been fly tipped next to parked cars.
On the mess, the resident said: “This is the Cramond Harbour visitors car park today at 1pm. What a disgusting greeting for tourists and locals alike when visiting this beautiful part of Edinburgh.
“Surely Edinburgh has more pride than this.”
A spokesperson for Edinburgh City Council condemned those littering in the area and said that they have been made aware of the issue. They added that the mess would be cleaned up in the near future by their team.
