Edinburgh Princes Street gardener spotted using futuristic remote control lawnmower

An Edinburgh gardener was caught on camera after he was seen using one of the city's unusual remote control lawnmowers.

Quickly posting the video to social media, the startled onlooker seemed extremely surprised to be met with the futuristic contraption as it worked to cut the grass.

Zipping back and forth from the pathway top the bushes at the back of the West Princes Street Gardens entrance, it's bright yellow colour could be seen clearly.

Working on four wheels, the lawnmower was being operated by a gardener standing next to it, who seemed rather pleased to just having to operate the remote rather than lug the machine back and forth himself.

Commentating as they walked past, TikTok user @mi5surveillance said: "Look at that little dude. I don't mean it in a cliche way but every day this city surprises me with something new.

"And that's part of why I love it."

The robotic gardeners were actually given the green light to be introduced into the city in 2019, with smaller and bigger versions popping up in the centre of Edinburgh.

In fact, one of the smaller lawnmowers even became a celebrity for a short while last year, after ranking on TripAdvisor at number 155 for the best things to see and do in Edinburgh.
