Edinburgh police search for missing man last seen in Wales days ago

Police in Edinburgh have issued concerns for a missing Welsh man who is believed to be in the capital.

Officers have shared a missing persons appeal initially released by Gwent Police, as they try to locate 51-year-old Stephen Hopkins. Last seen in the Abergavenny area of Wales earlier this week, Stephen has links to Newport and Bristol but is believed to be in Edinburgh.

According to an appeal, he was last seen in Abergavenny at around 11am on Monday 1 August and officers are now seriously concerned for his welfare.

He is described as around 5ft 6” tall, of slim build, bald and clean shaven.

Stephen was last seen wearing a grey hoody, black shoes and a black coat.

Speaking on social media, Edinburgh police said: "Gwent Police are trying to locate Stephen Hopkins. He is described as around 5ft 6” tall, slim build, bald and clean shaven.

"He is believed to be in the Edinburgh area. If you have any information then please contact using the below information:

"Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is asked to call us on 101 or send us a direct message on social media, quoting log reference 2200259261."
