A male individual allegedly forced his way into her home in Granton and smashed up the house before "hitting her head off the TV", one local told Edinburgh Live.

The neighbour heard the commotion and called police who are now looking into the incident.

A local resident told Edinburgh Live, "On Wednesday last week a male forced entry into a single mum's house in Royston Mains and assaulted her and smashed up the living room and hit her head off the TV breaking the TV.

"There was a lot of commotion and a concerned neighbour heard the noise and came to the flat and the attacker fled. This was about lunchtime.

"The suspect was spotted escaping in a waiting parked van. The terrified bruised and battered victim is now too scared to leave her house as the suspect has not been found."
