Edinburgh man rushed to hospital after roller pictured 'on its side' on busy road

A man has been rushed to hospital after an incident on a busy Edinburgh road, with footage appearing to show a roller 'on its side'.

The A902 at Telford Road travelling westbound has seen huge tailbacks this afternoon. An image captured at the scene appears to show a roller on the pavement next to one of the lanes, with a large lorry parked with cones surrounding it.

The incident was reported around 2pm this afternoon, April 12, with a passer-by warning road users on Facebook that they witnessed the bizarre incident involving what appeared to be a road roller having come loose from the back of a lorry.

Traffic in the area has been affected by the incident, as police were also in attendance.

Heading into rush hour, one of the capital's busiest main roads saw bigger queues than usual due to the holdup.

A video captured on Snapchat by another passer-by appears to show several workers gathered around the roller and lorry on the side of the road, with the inside lane blocked where the lorry has pulled over.

The incident occurred on Telford Road, near Drylaw and a short while from the Western General Hospital.

Police Scotland confirmed that they attended the incident on Telford Road around 2pm and a man was taken to hospital.

A spokesperson said: "Around 2pm this afternoon, police were made aware of an incident in Telford Road where a man was injured. The man has been taken to hospital and police assisted with traffic management. Enquiries are ongoing."
