Police in Edinburgh are carrying out enquiries after they were called to a busy street in the early hours of Wednesday morning following reports of a serious incident.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a vehicle travelling at speed down Niddry Street, around 3.30am on Wednesday, June 8, with one male being rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
STV News report the street was shut off and armed police were reportedly spotted in the area.

Eyewitnesses at the scene, outside a row of busy bars and clubs, say they saw a vehicle out of control and swerving into vehicles, trying to avoid revellers on the steep cobbled street.
Officers confirmed that a 31-year-old male was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with 'serious' injuries, although he remains in a stable condition.
It is understood that an armed response unit was present at the scene and assisted officers in locking down the street before it eventually opened several hours later.
The nature of the attack is currently unknown, with officers making door-to-door enquiries the following morning.
The street is home to the well-known student club Hive, as well as The Banshee Labyrinth, Scotland's 'most haunted pub'.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed an investigation is ongoing, although it remains at the early stages.
They added: "Police were called around 3.50am on Wednesday, 8 June, 2022 following the report of a serious assault on Niddry Street, Edinburgh.
“Emergency services attended and a 31-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment of serious injuries. Enquiries are currently ongoing."
