Police are appealing for witnesses after an Edinburgh man was assaulted in broad daylight at a popular capital beauty spot.
The 40-year-old was rushed to hospital after the incident took place on Leamington Walk in the Meadows just after 3pm on Saturday.
It has been confirmed that a cyclist and another member of the public were involved in the altercation, though the reason behind the assault is currently unclear.

After being treated for his injuries, the man was released from hospital as detectives continue to search for further details.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Detectives in Edinburgh are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in the city.
“The incident happened around 3.10pm on Saturday, 17 June, 2023 on Leamington Walk in the Meadows area and involved a cyclist and another member of the public. A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital and released after treatment.
Eyewitnesses have been urged to come forward to assist the police with their enquiries.
Detective Constable Michael Campbell aded: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2617 of 17 June, 2023. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
