An Edinburgh local has spoken of the dramatic moment he escaped after a fish and chip shop appeared to burst into flames.
Alex, who wishes to go by his first name only, told Edinburgh Live of his horror as the blaze took hold.
The emergency services received the call at 11.34am about the incident on Summerhall Place in the Newington area of the city, it appears to have destroyed Franco's fish and chip shop. Scottish Fire and Rescue have sent six engines to fight the blaze.

Alex told how he escaped from his top floor flat after the smell of smoke and the sound of shouting quickly escalated into an emergency.
He said: "I had my headphones on throughout the morning and did not hear neighbours pounding on my door when the emergency broke out. I went in the bathroom when I began smelling smoke. At first I thought it was burnt food but when I took my headphones out Ie heard shouting in the hallway and the smell became stronger
"There wasn't smoke in the building when I evacuated but when I left the building I turned around and the entire shop front was in flames."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson confirmed that they received a call regarding the fire and that six fire crews were on their way to the incident. Police and ambulance services also confirmed to Edinburgh Live that they are on the scene.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11:34 on Monday 8 August to reports of a fire affecting commercial premises and adjoining promises on Summerhall Place, Edinburgh.
“Operations control have mobilised six appliances and a height vehicle to the scene where crews remain in attendance where they work to contain the fire and make the scene safe.
“Three casualties have been handed into the care of paramedics.”
