Edinburgh hotel apologises as American guest complains of action outside window

An Edinburgh guest has hit out after their stay in the city centre was ruined by screaming party goers and bins being emptied in the early hours of the morning that 'sounded like rocket ships.'

The hotel guest that goes by the name of Pamela took to Tripadvisor to fume about the two night trip at Stay Central Hotel in Cowgate next to the Three Sisters Pub, advising other travellers "don’t stay if you want to sleep at night."

Pamela from Harrisonburg in Virginia, explained that the room they had rented for two nights during the Edinburgh Festival in August was too loud, not that clean and that the breakfast wasn't great.

In particular they complained about the noise from the popular Three Sisters bar next door which has a late licence in the festival and the smashing of bottles into the recycling bin during the early hours of the morning.

Adding that compared to the other five star hotels they stayed in during their trip around Scotland the Stay Central Hotel wasn’t great.

The fuming guest wrote: "We stayed two nights and didn’t sleep either evening. The Three Sisters bar is attached to the hotel and the party goes from early afternoon to 4:00am.

"Party goers were screaming and laughing right outside our window

"The bar tenders throw the empty kegs and the bottles in the bins at 4:00 am which sounds like a rocket ship continuously going off.

"We alerted the front desk both days. The staff were empathetic and apologised.

"Breakfast wasn’t great either. As compared to the other five hotels we stayed at during our Scotland tour, it was the not as good. Not as much to chose from and the serving containers didn’t look very clean."

A manager responded to the complaint writing: "I am pleased to hear you overall enjoyed your stay!

"We apologise for the noise you experienced, our hotel is closely affiliated with the three sisters bar which is particularly busy during the fringe festival."

The rooms cost around £100 a night for the city centre location and has received a hundreds of excellent reviews online.

In one positive review a guest wrote: "Such a cute, modern, chill hotel. The vibe the second we came in was so nice and welcoming. The staff were very kind and fun. Perfect location literally so close to everything."
