Edinburgh police have opened an investigation after a man had to be taken to hospital following a hit-and-run on a busy city road.

It is claimed that the injured driver stepped out of their car to challenge a driver of a black five-door Skoda Fabia before his stomach was hit by the vehicle’s wing mirror and his foot crushed.
A witness is understood to have called the police who responded to the incident and the man was taken to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary for treatment.
His wife claims that her husband has been unable to work following the "road rage" incident and that he has been left in crutches and a walking boot.
They have asked for anyone with any CCTV of the area to come forward in the hopes that they can find the party responsible.
The Skoda was seen travelling towards Stenhouse Cross from Broomhouse Drive directly after the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.35pm on Sunday, 2 July, 2023 we received a report of a road traffic incident involving a vehicle and a man.
“The man was taken to The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.”
