Edinburgh cyclist rushed to hospital following crash with motorist on A7

A 52-year-old male cyclist has been taken to the Royal Infirmary hospital for treatment after being involved in a crash with a motorist in Bonnyrigg.

Officers have said that the incident took place around 6.50pm on Monday June 19 at Hardengreen roundabout on the A7 close to the Tesco Superstore in the Midlothian town.

The crash involved a motorist and a 52-year-old cyclist who had to be taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.

It is understood that traffic was heavily impacted by the incident with tailbacks causing disruption on the A7.

Officers have said that enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.50pm on Monday, 19 June, 2023, we were called to a report of a crash involving a car and a cyclist at Hardengreen roundabout on the A7 near Bonnyrigg.

"The 52-year-old male cyclist was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
