Edinburgh councillor hits out at vandals that left burnt-out motorbike on path

An Edinburgh Councillor has shared an image of a burnt-out motorbike that they discovered whilst out on their travels in North Edinburgh this morning (January 24).

Conservative councillor for the Drum Brae/Gyle ward, Mark Brown, shared an image of the charred remains of the vehicle that was situated between Craigleith and Davidson Mains on the Blackhall pathway.

In the image, the incinerated vehicle can be seen lying on its side at the edge of the path, with a trail of black ash snaking behind it.

It is not yet known who the bike belonged to or where the vehicle was stolen from before it was set on fire.

Those that carried out the act of vandalism are also unknown at this time with Police Scotland saying that they are unaware of any incident having taken place.

However it is suspected that those behind the incident was the work of joyriders.

, Cllr Mark Brown said: “Hi @edinhelp - on the Blackhall Path from Craigleith to D Mains. Can this be removed please? Another burnt out bike @EdinPolNW.”

Speaking to Edinburgh Live about their discovery, Cllr Mark Brown added: “This is someone’s pride and joy left in a tangled, burnt out shadow of its former self. Sadly it’s not an uncommon sight on that particular path and not only is it a gut-wrenching loss for the owner, the aftermath leaves such a mess of the path too.”

Police Scotland were contacted for comment but relayed that no incident had been reported to them and were therefore unable to comment at this time.
