Edinburgh Council's pest control team have been called in after a resident found a dead rat near a retail park in the south west of the capital.
The dead rodent was discovered outside a Costa Coffee near Edinburgh West Retail Park in Chesser last week and after being contacted by a concerned resident, the council confirmed their pest control team were already aware of the situation.
Locals also reported seeing rats in the Moat Street and Slateford Road area last week, with the council saying an active baiting programme is in progress and anyone who finds evidence of burrowing is encouraged to get in touch to report the issue.
