Edinburgh car crash sees motor flipped on roof on outskirts of city centre

A car has flipped onto its roof following a smash on a quiet street in the capital. Emergency services rushed to Stenhouse Drive in Edinburgh at around 5pm yesterday, following reports that a white car had been left upside down following a collision.

Shocking images show the car upturned across the middle of the road, blocking it to traffic going both ways. Mercy crews were on the scene, administering medical treatment to the shaken driver and attempting to remove the immobilised car.

It is not clear what caused the incident, or if there are any serious injuries. The road was closed for a time while teams worked to remove the debris.

According to Edinburgh Live, the incident occurred just outside the Tesco Express on the busy road on the outskirts of the city centre. The image also shows a heavy dent in a silver Mercedes parked next to the car which also appears to have been involved in the smash.

One eye witness said to avoid the road until it is cleared as traffic was building.

Ambulance crews attending the scene had parked blocking off one lane of traffic, with police arriving a short while later to divert motorists. Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
