Edinburgh bar disappointed as waiter 'flaunts around and takes phone calls'

An Edinburgh bar has expressed "disappointment" at one of their staff members after a customer accused them of "taking phone calls" while on the job.

The diner at All Bar One, within Edinburgh Airport, was less than impressed with a member of staff who they said was making himself coffees and "flaunting around" during their meal.

Leaving a disappointing review on TripAdvisor, the General Manager of the restaurant took the opportunity to apologise for the staff member's behaviour and said they will "take this opportunity to improve."

The review stated: "Service was average at best when our waiter wasn't making himself coffees and taking phone calls on his mobile where he thought we couldn't see him.

"He was flaunting around taking his time even though there was barely anyone there. We had to go up to the bar to ask for our bill because he was over at the food section laughing with people. Flying again in three weeks and hopefully he is off that day.

The restaurant responded with: "We are disappointed to learn of your experience here at Edinburgh Airport 1 West, but will take this opportunity to improve. We hope you are willing to give us another chance in the future."

Last week, Edinburgh Airport announced the opening of a second All Bar One venue within the departure lounge, allowing flyers to enjoy a drink or bite to eat at either side of the building.

The new £1.6 million site opened up its doors in the airport on Wednesday December 28 and can serve 200 people from 4am to 9pm.

Speaking about the refurbishment, General Manager at All Bar One Edinburgh, Lewis said: "We are very excited to be opening our brand new second All Bar One unit within Edinburgh Airport, offering travellers somewhere exciting to start their holidays.

"Open from 4am every day we have an exciting range of cocktails, beer and wine along with a fantastic Breakfast and Main menu in our stylish bar and restaurant setting."
