Edinburgh Airport urges passengers not to arrive before check in time

Across the UK thousands of people have been having trouble with airports and airlines, with many being notified that their holiday has been cancelled at the very last second.

However, whilst the majority are still able to get away to their sunny destination, others have been facing long wait times and queues bigger than they had first imagined.

On May 31, we reported that a number of Edinburgh Airport passengers were forced to wait outside on Tuesday morning in an effort to drop off their bags.

Long lines of holidaymakers were soon pictured standing outside as early as 4am as they waited to check-in their luggage with Ryanair.

However to help things run smoothly, Edinburgh Airport have now sent an urgent warning to people walking through their terminal.

Taking to Twitter today (June 1), the airport warned passengers not to turn up too early as it could result in longer queues and further waiting times.

Edinburgh Airport has taken to Twitter. (Twitter.)

Whilst replying a Twitter user about people arriving four hours early, they responded: "As we said above, we're recommending people to arrive once their check in is open, NOT before - this adds to waits and congestion."

Airlines themselves have released times as to when people should be turning up for their flights with the likes of easyJet stating passengers travelling from the Capital's airport should arrive "between two and three hours before their flight."

Ryanair told us that all passengers travelling from Edinburgh Airport should "arrive at least 2 hours prior to their scheduled departure time."
