Eddie Howe names key factor that will help 'outstanding' Frank Lampard at Everton

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has warned his players they will have to be their very best to beat Everton tonight.

Howe watched the Blues dispatch Brentford 4-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday, as Frank Lampard got his tenure at Goodison Park off to an impressive start.

The 19th placed Magpies can close the gap on Everton to just one point if they’re victorious at St. James' on Tuesday evening.

However, Howe is wary of the impact Lampard has already had on his squad, highlighting the nature of the performance against Brentford.

"Every new manager naturally changes the dynamic slightly and asks his players to do slightly different things," Howe told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

"I think Frank will have his philosophy and his way of playing, and I think that was quite evident against Brentford – I think we saw a team that was playing out from the back, comfortable in possession and certainly attacked very well on the day."

Lampard is relatively inexperienced as a manager, having only taken the reins at two previous clubs in Derby County and Chelsea, however Howe believes that the former England midfielder has the right support staff to be a success at Everton.

He added: "I fully respect Frank, I know him well.

"I think he's an outstanding manager and he's got a great backroom team with him – really astute people, clever people that have gone in behind him to work with him and the players.

"I think they have a strong management team, a strong team on the pitch so – as always in every Premier League game – we're going to have to be at our very best to win.”
