Eddie Hearn is considering reaching out to UFC boss Dana White about making Conor McGregor vs Canelo Alvarez.
Former two-weight UFC champion McGregor believes he could cause problems for Alvarez in the potential crossover fight. The Irishman has taken confidence from Alvarez's performances against other southpaw fighters such as John Ryder and Billy Joe Saunders, despite the Mexican dominating both of those fights.
White pardoned McGregor from his contractual duties in 2017 for an illustrious 'money fight' against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. The fight was a huge success as it sold 4.3million pay-per-view buys and Hearn believes a clash between McGregor and Alvarez could also reel in some big numbers.
“I nearly reached out to Eddy Reynoso and Saul [Canelo] about it and Dana White. Listen if the money’s there. I nearly messaged Dana, maybe I will after this interview. I mean they’ve done Floyd against McGregor, they saw how big that was. With Saul, you’ve got that whole Hispanic fanbase, you’ve got McGregor’s fanbase. I mean it’s massive, but who knows," Hearn told Boxing Social.

Alvarez caught on to comments made by McGregor about the potential fight by responding: "The truth is I haven't seen what he said because I don't have my social networks on my phone right now, but I'll beat him with one hand on his back." This didn't sit well with McGregor who gave a fiery response to the undisputed super-middleweight champion.
"Canelo you little ginger sausage. I’d beat you with NO HANDS. Don’t forget," he wrote. Alvarez would inevitably be a massive favourite if the pair did meet in the ring given his experience in the ring, whilst McGregor's fight against Mayweather was his lone boxing appearance.
It isn't the first time that Alvarez has given a scathing assessment of McGregor as the Mexican played down a fight against him in 2021. When shown a photo of the UFC star during a segment in the build-up to his fight against Caleb Plant, Alvarez told BT Sport Boxing: "Oh my god, no. Don't try man, don't try."
McGregor has previously outlined his intentions to return to boxing after his UFC career is over. 'Notorious' makes his fighting return against Michael Chandler at the end of this year having not fought since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in their July 2021 trilogy fight.
