Ed Sheeran forced to cancel both shows at Robert Kraft’s Gillette stadium

• The British singer’s tour has been marred by controversy after Macklemore was dropped from the North American leg following the rapper’s “Free Palestine” comments on stage.
• Stadium staff confirmed the cancellation was caused by an approaching nor'easter storm bringing severe weather.
• Gillette Stadium is the home venue of Robert Kraft 's New England Patriots, who Macklemore said was the driving force behind pushing him off the tour. According to a Wall Street Journal source, Kraft told Sheeran during their call that Macklemore’s comments were hate speech and not freedom of speech, and highlighted the 2014 incident when the rapper was accused of antisemitism for his on-stage outfit.
• The shows were originally scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday evenings.
