Susanna Reid was left speechless on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday morning as her co-host Ed Balls swore live on air after she had just told him not to.
The TV presenter was hosting the ITV breakfast show alongside the former politician as they recalled a previous appearance from EastEnders legend Danny Dyer in the studio.
Ed said he had been in the studio when the soap star appeared on the show, adding: “He used the ‘t’ word.”
Susanna replied: “He did, yes,” before Ed asked: “Are we allowed to say that this early?”
A firm Susanna then quickly said: “No, it’s on the Ofcom list,” before Ed breezily replied: “So you can’t say t***. Just checking.”
Susanna’s eyes then bulged as she looked at her notes in apparent shock, before turning to the cameras and reminding Ed: “You know we’re on air now, don’t you?”
Entertainment reporter Richard Arnold, who was also in the studio, joked: “You can say trotters, though.”
Susanna said: “He talked about David Cameron, who called the Brexit referendum being out with his trotters up. That’s the ‘t’ word you mentioned.”
After having an apparent talking to from producers through his ear piece, Ed said: “I apologise. I didn’t mean to say that. Apparently I shouldn't have said that.”
Susanna then tried to move proceedings along as she said to viewers: “We’re going to clean up our act.”
It comes after it was reported Susanna has confronted Good Morning Britain bosses over 'stupid' blunders on air.
Susanna, 52, is reported to have been fuming recently as a number of mistakes "made the show look stupid" and confronted senior executives over the errors, including several spelling issues, such as the word "remembering" being spelt incorrectly during a story about a death.
Other instances include the wrong date being shown on screen and also the name of a news correspondent appearing incorrect on a report about the war in Ukraine; Ben Chapman was incorrectly labelled Ben Champan.
An insider said: "She [Susanna] made her feelings very clear, and confronted the senior executives over it."
It was also claimed Susanna has felt more responsibility to ensure the standards of the show don't slip following the exit of her former co-presenter Piers Morgan in 2021.
Susanna's frustration has led to bosses sending emails out to members of staff, reports said.
Susanna has been the lead presenter on GMB since 2014 – with her hosting the programme alongside Piers Morgan from 2015 until his departure in 2021.
He left after storming off set following a row with GMB weatherman Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey.
