Eberechi Eze has dismissed rumours linking him with a summer transfer away from Crystal Palace, where he believes he’s in the form of his life.
Eze has been in scintillating form since Roy Hodgson’s return as Palace manager, scoring six goals and assisting another in his last eight games.
The uncapped Englishman is back on Gareth Southgate’s radar and while his contract still has two years to run, media reports have named Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle and even Paris Saint-Germain as potential interested parties.
Asked whether he is playing the best football of his career, Eze said: “Yeah probably. I feel like I’ve got the freedom to play, to do my thing. I’m just happy to be enjoying my football.”
Responding to rumours linking him with a move away, he added: “I’m not really too bothered about that. I’m just focusing on the present.
“I want to continue enjoying it and contributing to the team as much as I can. I’m improving every game.”
Eze, 24, dropped out of Palace’s starting XI towards the end of Patrick Vieira’s reign. He had netted just four times in 27 league appearances at the time of the Frenchman’s sacking.
“I found it difficult at times,” he admitted.
“As a team we were going through a tough period so that’s natural to lack confidence. Since Roy has come in, it’s given me the freedom to express myself. I’ve obviously played for him before, so I understand exactly what he wants. That’s helped.”
