The minimum investment required for the US EB-5 immigrant investor programme is due to increase on January 1, 2027, under an inflation-adjustment mechanism introduced by federal law. Indian investors considering the programme as a route to US permanent residency could need to commit significantly more money if they file their petitions after the revised thresholds take effect.
The current minimum investment is $800,000 for qualifying projects in targeted employment areas (TEAs), including rural and high-unemployment areas, and infrastructure projects. For other projects, the minimum is $1.05 million.
