John Partridge has teased EastEnders fans as he revealed he would be willing to return to Albert Square but on one key condition.
The 51-year-old actor played Christian Clarke, the younger brother of Jane Beale, for eight years and was involved in a number of dramatic storylines.
He originally left the BBC soap in 2012 but returned for a few episodes in 2014 and 2016 and it seems he could reprise his role again.
John admitted he would go back to Walford if show bosses brought back Rita Simons' character Roxy Mitchell full-time.
Fans recently saw the actress return to the soap as Roxy for an emotional scene with her onscreen daughter Amy Mitchell.
Christian was close friends with Roxy, who sadly died alongside her sister Ronnie Mitchell on New Year's Day in 2017.
Speaking about the prospect of him returning, John said: "I think if Rita did make a miraculous recovery, I do think that for Christian it would be his duty to have one final rock 'n' roll."
He speculated about what Christian has been up to after all these years away from Walford.
"I think he would have to come back from Birmingham, he'd have to leave his retail job in the Bullring - I'm pretty sure that's where he is, probably working for Jo Malone or The White Company in the Bullring - living his full retail fantasy."
He admitted to RadioTimes that characters do have a "shelf-life", but teased "Never say never".
Fans were left overjoyed on Thursday night when Roxy Mitchell made a brief return in a heartbreaking scene with her daughter.
In the episode, Amy attended a family therapy session with stepmother Denise Fox, father Jack Branning and brother Ricky.
Amy has struggled with her mental health in recent months which has been made worse as she tries to get her father to forgive Denise after it was revealed she had been unfaithful.
In the session, Amy is encouraged to open up about her emotions surrounding the loss of her mum.
She zones out and Roxy appears as a figment of her imagination to give her daughter some words of advice.
